MATT
CASTEEN GALLERY
Matt Casteen is an artist dedicated to brilliant gemstone design. His
designs are both elegant and innovative. His techniques create
unique refractive patterns and allow rich color to emerge from his
carefully selected rough. Matt limits the number of stones he
creates each year making his designs exclusive and exceptionally
valuable.
His mastery of gemstone cutting has been recognized by both top
professionals and local government agencies. The American Gem
Trade Association (AGTA), America’s highest recognized
association for professional gemstone cutters, awarded Matt the First
Place Cutting Edge Award in 2004 for his entry in the Pairs and Suites
division. Matt has also tied for second place in the Lapidary
Journal’s 2007 Gemmy Awards.
Matt teaches faceting at North Carolina State University and at the
request of the NC Museum of Natural Science, he granted display of his
gemstones as part of their year long Treasures Unearthed exhibit.
